Seriously. Stop hurting America, Carlson! Stop hurting America, Begala!
Friday, October 15, 2004
Daily Kos and Washington Monthly and ABC all reported on the story.
And O'Neil? In the warm and sunny light of the truth? He lost it!

But the Republicans are telling them to JUST SHUT UP!
Lousy, meddling kids at ROCK THE VOTE! We oughta draft them first!
I don't have time to comment on the Sinclair smear right now. But soon, MMC will be featuring an expose of the weak link in the string of conservative lies that blame the defeat in Vietnam on John Kerry and the protests of other brave Vietnam veterans.
Richard Nixon, in 1968, ran on a platform that he had a "secret plan" to end the war. Did the North Vietnamese leadership not understand what this meant? That America, as fully realized by that seasoned political player Richard Nixon, wanted out of the war? But Nixon prolonged a war that he had already conceded because he didn't want to look weak, because then he might not, horror of horrors, get elected to a second term. How many more American soldiers died, needlessly, because Richard Nixon couldn't even imagine an America where he wasn't president for four more years?
And the Bush-drones, including some veterans who claim to be hurt by memories of Vietnam even though they are the ones who keep bringing it up, have the gall to attack Kerry and thousands of other Vietnam veterans for protesting Nixon's cynical and self-serving policies.
Have you no sense of decency? Have you no sense of honor and no respect for the truth?
How low will the Bush-drones go.
So, objectively, what's worse? Being compared to a Holocaust denier by a lying conservative Bush-drone? Or actually and actively trying to suppress access to historical information on organizations like the Ku Klux Klan?
Stop hating America, Lynne Cheney!
Another subject that I unfortunately have not heard enough about from any candidate, or mainstream media in general, is civilian casualties. Every day US forces are bombing "terrorist safehouses" in Iraq, and filling hospitals with women and children. This may not headline the evening news in the US, but its consistantly the lead story throughout the Arab world. US planes killing civilians by bombing in densely populated urban areas in the coutry to which they are bringing democracy. This is NOT the way to win hearts and minds, and every day of this heavy-handed violence and destruction makes the job of "instilling democracy" in Iraq that much harder. This is what democracy looks like to them, and unless this is changed, immediately, staying the course in Iraq will be staying the course directly into a full-scale war. All it needs at this point is a Tet-style offensive to make it explode. Professor Cole has another editorial here, this one about civilian casualties and potential consequences later.
So think about George W Bush and his foriegn policy. He has made very clear that changing one's mind is comepletely unacceptable and is unwilling (unable?) to admit the mere existance of a mistake. Listening to him tonight tell the country that he wanted to "spread freedom around the world" was truly frightening, considering what he has accomplished so far.
And finally, I listened to John Kerry's closing statement in the debate tonight (about the only part I listened to; baseball was MUCH more exiting) and I have to say: the man is sincere. He really cares.

If you do like to hear other viewpoints and evaluate whether they might be valid or logical or likely, then read this article about Seymour Hersh at Berkeley.
Could anybody in the Bush Administration think it might be a good idea to inflate the numbers on insurgent casualties so it makes it look like we're "winning" the War on "Terror"?
Hey, it helped us to "win" in Vietnam. After all, we only "lost" in Vietnam because John Kerry protested the war.
Finally! The Republicans have stopped blaming everything on Bill Clinton!

And the Conventional Wisdom is wrong.
Check out this article from Mother Jones.
And Cheney has the gall to tell Kerry supporters that they will be responsible if there is another terrorist attack! Mr. Cheney, I find it utterly reprehensible that you would ever dare suggest that American soldiers who support Kerry, who are doing more than you have ever done to serve this great country, would be supporting terrorists! You should be ashamed, Mr. Cheney. And all of you Republicans who make excuses for Cheney and Bush for their crazed accusations, you should be ashamed as well.
SAVE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! VOTE KERRY!
And Daily Kos explains it very well, with numerous examples.
("Liberals" like examples. "Conservatives" prefer blind faith. And the stupider an idea is, the more faith you need to believe it.)
Stuff like this speaks for itself.
Honest Republican should be abandoning their party in droves to protest the Bush Administration's silence on such undisguised hate speech like this. She is the Kerry recruitment poster girl for voters who are sick of divisive and hateful Republican tactics.
Like everyone else, Ann Coulter has a right to her opinion. But decent people also have a right to be outraged by her divisive lies.
I implore you, Ann! Please stop hating America! Please, Ann, stop doing so much to weaken America! Stop helping the terrorists by making America weak!
(Does anyone know why she hates freedom so much?)
