IS THE PRESIDENT RACIST OR JUST MIND-BLOWINGLY IGNORANT?

MORE OF THE WIT AND WISDOM OF GEORGE W. BUSH

This happened a while back, the end of April, but the "liberal media" somehow gave the president a free pass, as usual, so the story kinda died.

The president was defending the June 30 transfer of sovereignty to the Iraqis. Apparently trying to attribute racism to critics who are arguing that the turnover may be a bit premature, the president said:

"There's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that people whose skin color may not be the same as ours can be free and self-govern. I reject that. I reject that srongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily - are a different color than white can self-govern."

How progressive! This must be that compassionate conservatism we used to hear so much about!

The headline for this post was taken - with permission - from the cartoon where I heard about these enlightening quotes. It's called SLOWPOKE and it's written and drawn by Jen Sorensen. It's really good.

Thanks, Jen! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't know that everyone who's critical of the war is motivated by racism!
