SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES SPEAK OUT

I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately. I am hard at work on my master's thesis about journalism in Mississippi from 1800 to 1860. I am still writing and drawing Dilbush for a college newspaper and I will be providing links to the cartoons as they appear on the Web site. However, the paper is on summer hiatus so it will be August 23 before the next Dilbush is published.

I will be providing links to relevant sites once or twice a week. Today, I am including several links put together by military personnel and their families who are against war. When the stay-at-home war hawks start in with that right-wing nonsense that you hate the troops if you protest the war, you can counter with some of the information on these sites, anti-war messages from people who have seen war and who have suffered it first-hand or through the experiences of their familiy members.

First is a site from Courage to Refuse, an organization of Israeli soldiers who oppose the war in the Palestinian settlements. This is not specifically about the War on Iraq, but it is useful information for the next time you get called anti-Semitic if you don't heartily endorse every single thing the Israeli government does.

Next are two sites more specifically about the War on Iraq, Military Families Speak Out and Iraq Veterans Against the War. There is some very powerful material on these sites.

So don't let anyone question your patriotism if you express doubts about the war. There are plenty of people who have served, who have experienced the war first-hand, who agree that the war is wrong.

Not everybody who is in the military will be voting for George W. Bush. Some of them want to live.
