Why We Love Detective Comics

Covers like this:

I really like this one.

That's from Detective Comics #765, cover-dated February 2002.

This is from that period where Wayne Enterprises hired a bodyguard, Sasha Bordeaux, to protect Bruce Wayne from being kidnapped or something. And Sasha eventually found out that Bruce Wayne was actually Batman, so she became his partner in crimefighting for a time:

Actually, I plan to say a little more about Sasha at some point. I really enjoyed these issues, though it ended badly. Greg Rucka was the writer. Rick Burchett was the penciller.

I don't know how comicdom at large feels about Sasha Bordeaux, but I always liked her, both as Bruce Wayne's bodyguard and as Batman's nocturnal assistant.

But for now, let's enjoy that cover. (It seems to be just as much about Gotham City as it is about Batman.)
